Can't Save and Ship Core Help

I have been having some trouble recently. Decided to come back to Skywanderers for a bit (wasn't playing, waiting for it to develop further) and noticed two issues that are consistently happening when I play.

1) I seem to be unable to save any progress. When I exit the game and try to reload, there are no saves/characters to choose from and my ship build progress is gone. This is pretty annoying, because it means I cnan't make any really big builds. If anyone has had a similar problem, I would appreciate some help in figuring out how to fix it.

2) Every time I place a ship core, it has the starboard side of the ship as my forward end. I can't figure out how to change this, and reorienting the ship core prior to placing it doesn't seem to help. Is there a method of doing this in the ship core's GUI? Or am I just out of luck until this game gets closer to completion?

Game version in 19w31b, but I opted out of the experimental builds and the forums only have up to 18w50a.

Consider joining in the Discord if you haven't already, minute-by-minute memery- ah I mean game update discussion and news.

Re 1) Press F1 to save your world. No autosave in the game (yet). You can save individual blueprints by pressing F5 and talking to the little yellow drone friend that shows up.

Re 2) I believe that currently the ship's axes are determined by the first control stick you link to the core. Note that you can chain these AFAIK, so if you want your cockpit to be on a child entity then put a flight stick next to the core, link it, and then build your cockpit and link that flight stick to the "core" one.

Did there used to be an autosave? I was sure there was before, back when the character model was still cubular. I'll have to try linking with a flight stick then, I hadn't put one down yet when I put the core down before.
